The London Congestion Charge is a mandatory fee for entering a part of Central London known as the Congestion Charge Zone with your motor vehicle. The current Congestion Zone is the area within the London Inner Ring Road, with notable roads that define the boundary including Elephant and Castle, Tower Bridge Road, City Road and Edgware Road. The roads are clearly marked with a large white “C” inside a red circle on the road itself and also the same design on road signs so that it is obvious when you are entering the zone. No matter how many times you drive in and out of the zone within the same day you will only need to pay the charge once. It can be paid both in advance and on the day of travel. To make a general inquiry about the London Congestion Charge or to find out more information you can call the Congestion Charge contact number on 0343 222 2222.
You have until midnight on the day you drive into the zone to pay the charge at a rate of £11.50, or you can pay the day after at the increased rate of £14. If the fee is not paid by midnight the next day you will incur a fine currently set at £65 which will be raised as a penalty charge notice and sent to the registered keeper of the vehicle. When paying on the day, the charge can be paid at shops, online or by phone. If paying the day after, this can only be done online or by phone. If you enter the zone on a Friday, you can make payment on the following Monday. To find out more about penalty charge notices from the London Congestion, you can call the Congestion Charge contact number on our connection number of (Calls cost 7ppm + network charges) 0843 504 8268.

There is a Congestion Charge auto pay system which you can sign up to that will monitor each time your vehicle enters the zone. Your credit or debit card will then automatically be charged each month according to how many times you have entered the zone. When joining autopay you will receive a discount and each entry will only cost £10.50. You can pay up to 90 days in advance using auto pay.
